Dr. Deborah Patterson, DVM, MS

Veterinarian and Owner

Dr. Deb started Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in May 2006. She was inspired by her love of animals and the desire to practice in her home community. Dr. Patterson received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 2000 at Colorado State University. She previously received a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Wyoming.

Dr. Deb belongs to many veterinary organizations including American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society (DAVMS), International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM), and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). She is involved in Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Deb and her husband Sean enjoy watching their five children and one grandchild in all their activities They have three dogs and a friendly feline – Brodie a Golden Retriever, McGraw a mini Yorkshire Terrier, and Pebbles a Domestic Shorthair Cat. The dogs are usually at the clinic when Dr. Deb is there.

Dr. Kathy Gaughan DVM, DABVP

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Kathy joined Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic full time in March 2013. She was raised on a farm and ranch in the Flinthills of Kansas and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Kansas State University in 1992.

Prior to moving to Colorado in 2006, she taught at the Veterinary Teaching Hospitals at Kansas State and Auburn University. In 1998, she became a board certified specialist in Canine and Feline Practice in the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.

Dr. Kathy’s professional interests include animal behavior, internal medicine and nurturing the human-animal bond. Her hobbies include gardening, beading and spending time with her family. The Drs. Gaughan have two adult children who are pursuing degrees in the animal and agricultural sciences. The Gaughan ranch is home to Labradors, a Boston Terrier, 2 cats, 3 horses and a variable number of chickens.

Dr. Sarah Olson, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Sarah joined Brooklyn Vet in May 2017. A Minnesota native, Dr. Sarah graduated from the University of Minnesota Veterinary School in 2009 and moved to Colorado shortly after graduating in search of job prospects… and warmer weather.

Dr. Sarah enjoys all aspects of general practice because of the variety it brings; always keeping her on her toes and learning new things. She also greatly cherishes the special bonds she forms with her clients and patients over the years. She has special interests in feline medicine, dentistry, behavior and radiology.

Dr. Sarah and her husband, Erik, are proud parents of a busy toddler and pet parents to Greta (black lab), Heidi (yellow lab) and Pablo (long haired tuxedo cat).

Dr. Tiffany Colglazier, DVM, cVMA

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Tiffany started with Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in December of 2018. She received both her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and B.S. in Environmental Health from Colorado State University. Although her initial interest after graduation was in equine medicine, she has since found a love for small animal medicine with a particular interest in improving the quality of life of our aging four-legged friends. In an effort to better manage pain she pursued acupuncture training through the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians course and is now certified in veterinary medical acupuncture (cVMA). By combining acupuncture and laser therapy with conventional western medicine she is able to help keep our furry friends going strong into their senior years.

Dr. Tiffany is a 4th generation Colorado native who grew up in Parker. Majority of her childhood was spent on the back of a horse or hanging out at the barn as a true “barn rat.” It is from this experience that she learned hard work and dedication fueled a love for animals both large and small.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and pets, hiking, gardening, skiing, and riding her horse.

Dr. W. Preston Stubbs, DVM, DACVS

Board Certified Surgeon

Dr. W. Preston Stubbs is a native of western New York and grew up in northern Virginia. He is a 1990 graduate of the Virginia- Maryland Regional College of Veterinary
Medicine and received his internship training at Cornell University. He completed a residency in small animal surgery at the University of Florida in 1994.

Dr. Stubbs is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He has held positions in academic and large private referral practice settings. Dr. Stubbs started Mile High Veterinary Surgical Specialists, a mobile surgical service, in late 2012. He has published numerous articles in refereed journals and has authored several book chapters. Dr. Stubbs has presented many scientific lectures and continuing education presentations both nationally and abroad. He was also featured in the Animal Planet network’s Emergency Vets and ER Vets: Interns television programs. Dr. Alex Valdés, DVM, DACVR (Radiology)

Dr. Alex Valdés is a class of 2000 veterinary graduate from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey, Mexico. Several years of general practice, both in private referral hospitals and academia preceded a 3 year specialty training in veterinary radiology at the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated and became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology in 2008.

Subsequently, Alex joined the faculty team at Colorado State University as an Assistant Professor in Diagnostic Imaging. After 5 years in academia, he became a partner with Veterinary Imaging Consultants, Inc. in the Denver metro area performing mobile ultrasonography and teleradiology.

Dr. Geri Lake-Bakaar, DVM, ACVIM (Cardiology)

Dr. Geri Lake-Bakaar graduated from Harvard University in 2003 (BA), Cornell University in 2007, and University of California, Davis (DACVIM, Cardiology) in 2013. Between veterinary school and her residency she also completed a rotating internship at the Animal Medical Center, and a post-doc fellowship at Harvard/MGH.

She is devoted to caring for all animals and providing compassionate, quality care to all of her patients. She has a particular interest in education and has traveled the state providing continuing education lectures to veterinarians, and has also designed a series of client education materials. Kristin Spiess

Practice Manager

Kristin joined the team at Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in July of 2017. Originally, her passion for animals led her to want to become a veterinarian. With this in mind, she received a degree in biology from CU Boulder. After working in several clinics, she discovered a passion for the business side of veterinary medicine. She is currently back in school to pursue a degree in business management and eventually would like to become certified as a Veterinary Practice Manager.

When not at BVC or studying, Kristin enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their 2 dogs. She loves the weekends where she can get up to the mountains to go snowboarding, hiking, or camping.

Maria Artz

Veterinary Technician

Maria has been a very important part of the Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic team since 2015. She is a vet tech, mentor to our interns and volunteers, and an amazing groomer! With a resume that full, it is hard to believe she has time for much else.

In her rare spare time, Maria is busy playing Super Mom to her son Payton taking him to and from school, hockey practice, and hockey games. Maria has 2 dogs, Jo the Boxer, Jerry Lee the German Shepherd, and a cat Monte. On top of everything else, she still finds time to cheer on her Packers!!!

Melissa Rubin, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Melissa started with Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic mid 2017 after graduating from Bel-Rea.

She loves being able to help all of our furry friends and is always happy to know that she has made a difference. Melissa has a dog named Sven that she loves to spend time with. He makes a great companion especially when she is playing video games or watching movies.

Bridgette Bradshaw

Veterinary Technician

Bridgette joined the team in June of 2018. She attended Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology and received her associates degree in applied science.

Bridgette is a Colorado native and a new mother of a sweet baby boy who was born October 2018. When Bridgette is not here, she spends her time with her sweet baby, her border collie/lab mix named Sadie, and her 2 cats named Shadow and Pearl.

Kaleigh Rinder

Veterinary Technician

Kaleigh joined the team at Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in June of 2017. After high school, she began a degree in Zoology, but quickly realized that she had more of a passion for veterinary medicine.

She graduated from Pima Medical Institute as a Certified Veterinary Assistant in 2015 and spent a year and a half working for a canine orthopedic specialist in Colorado Springs before continuing her career here. Kaleigh is currently pursuing her degree as a Veterinary Technician from Penn Foster College. When she is not working, she enjoys participating in dance and indoor colorguard and exploring the outdoors with her dog, Balto.

Camille Petry

Veterinary Assistant

Camille started at Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in March of 2019. She was destined to be an animal lover with her mom being a vet tech and growing up on a ranch. Camille attended school at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO where she received an Associates degree in Equine Science and an Associates Degree and Certificate in Equine Training and Management.

Camille lives in Castle Rock with her boyfriend and her Mini Australian Shepherd, Flynn. When she is not working, she enjoys horseback riding, cooking, and cheering on her boyfriend at his various sporting events.

Kelley Furia, CVA

Certified Veterinary Assistant

Kelley started her journey with Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic back in 2011. She completed her high school internship here and then was hired on as a staff member after graduating. She moved to Washington, where she owned her own grooming shop. We are lucky that she moved back to Colorado and joined us as a veterinary assistant and groomer in March of 2019.

When Kelley isn’t at the clinic, she enjoys hiking, camping, watching hockey, and dabbling in art. She has several animals including a Mustang, chickens, and 3 dogs (a Dandie Dinmont, a hunting Lab and a Shih-Tzu Poodle Mix). On top of everything, Kelley recently completed her classes to become a certified veterinary assistant!

Lauryn Baker

Veterinary Assistant

Lauryn joined us at Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in May of 2019 after moving to Colorado from New Jersey. Lauryn has a strong background working with horses and even has an Associates Degree from the College of Central Florida in Equine Exercise Physiology. Lauryn has always known that she wanted to work with animals and decided to dip her toes into the small animal world.

Lauryn has a 2 year old daughter and loves spending time with her when she is not at the clinic. She also enjoys horseback riding and hanging out with her cat who is affectionately known as “Fat McStuffins”.

Sara Warren

Lead Customer Service Representative

Sara started with Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in March of 2017. Sara enjoys working in the veterinary industry because she loves to see the bond between clients and their pets.

Sara is very involved in the local 4-H program where she is a superintendent for the goat department. Sara and her husband Greg have 3 dogs, a horse, and multiple goats. In her spare time, Sara likes to spend time with her animals and show her goats at local shows!

Kassidy Woodland

Customer Service Representative

Kassidy has been a customer service representative at Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic since September of 2018. She graduated from Grandview High School in Aurora at 16 and is currently working towards her bachelor’s degree.

Kassidy has always had a passion for animals and in recent years has developed a special love for exotic animals. Her personal pets include snakes, lizards, sugar gliders, and a turtle. When Kassidy is not at BVC, she enjoys spending time with her pets, friends, and family; being outside; and learning new things.

Heather Reynolds

Customer Service Representative

Heather started at Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in June of 2019. She has several years of experience working with animals in many different areas. She has worked in the Denver area as a Certified Vet Tech and has operated a pet sitting business.
She has two children and her rescue dog Lulu. In her free time she enjoys exercising and spending time at the soccer fields.

Megan Haberbosch

Kennel Assistant

Megan started at Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in December of 2018. She is from Castle Rock and is a recent graduate from Castle View High School. Megan will be attending Arapaho Community College in the fall f 2019 and then plans to transfer to CSU in Fort Collins to further her education in Veterinary Medicine.

Between school and work, Megan enjoys doing anything outdoors, including hiking and canoeing. Megan shares her home with 1 cat and 3 chickens.

Ella Powers

Kennel Assistant

Ella started at Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic in November of 2018. She is a junior at Castle View High School, and would like to continue her education in veterinary medicine. After graduation she hopes to attend college at CSU, Texas Tech, or Purdue.

When Ella is not at school or the clinic, she enjoys reading, skiing, and hiking with her dog, Max!
